A Game of Poker
I started playing poker at a very young age.
We all did.
Parents around the world are teaching poker at this very moment.
It is the only way to fit into this complex world.
We hide our cards to avoid unwanted eyes that might take advantage of them.
Occasionally we find a partner to share these cards with.
We might give them a peek and wait anxiously to see what they do next.
The truth is we want to show people our cards,
but we know there are wrecking balls waiting to tear down our full house
and prying eyes waiting to pick apart a poorly dealt hand.
So instead of confronting these challenges,
instead of taking our earnings and walking away from the table,
we keep playing poker.
One stone-faced hand after another,
afraid to let anyone see who we really are.
